When you’re in the market for a new roof, it’s normal to have a lot of questions. Here are some of the most common questions we hear at Robbins Roofing, Inc., along with what you can expect when it’s time for a full roof replacement.
How much will my new roof cost?
There is no way this question can be answered without first inspecting the home. There are many factors that affect the cost of a new roof. Size is only one small aspect of the total cost. We must also look at the design of the roof, the number of peaks and valleys, if there are walls that rise up next to roof lines, and how many vents and chimneys we will have to work around. While we can’t provide you with a fixed price, we will provide you with a free quote on roofing.
Will you need to come in my home to give me an estimate?
Yes, we will need to enter the attic space of your home. This is a necessary part of any roofing job. We have to inspect the air flow in the attic. We will also check for signs of mold, rotten decking, and other potential problems.
Are dimensional shingles really better than 3-tab?
Even though they are both made from asphalt, the dimensional shingles truly are a better choice for your home. They’re heavier, so they’re less likely to blow off in storms. They also have a longer warranty and will update the appearance of your home.
Where do I need the most protection during the winter months?
An ice and water shield or leak barrier is a relatively new development in roofing. It wasn’t available 20 years ago. It adheres to the decking on your house along the eaves where ice dams are most likely to occur. It does drive up the cost of your roof slightly, but it protects your home from *water stains on ceiling by preventing ice dams.
Will the process be loud? How long will it take?
Unfortunately, the roofing process will be loud. There really is no way to avoid the noise of hammers and people walking on the roof. The good news is that we can usually install a new roof in a just a few days.
