Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is fast approaching. Can you believe it? With cold weather on a fast track to our area, its important to make sure your home, and more specifically your roof, is winter weather-ready.
Your roof is a major player in keeping you, your family and your belongings protected from the elements. You should inspect your house for signs of roof damage before every winter in enough time to get repairs before the weather gets brutal. It’s actually a good idea to inspect your home after winter as well to see if any damage occurred from built up snow or ice.
At Robbins Roofing, we recommend that you only inspect the areas you can see with two feet planted firmly on the ground. Don’t ever go up on your roof, that’s what we’re here for.
First, take a look inside your home. Check for signs of leaks on your ceilings and interior walls, which typically show up as stains. If you see anything that looks suspicious, you will want a professional to seal the leaks before snow and ice hit the area.
Next, take a look outside. Check your outdoor walls like you did inside, but also look for cracks and missing pieces. Again, a professional can help seal these areas for you, which will make your house much more weather-proof and keep warm air in and cold air out. (and the reverse in the summer months)
If you are suspicious of problems with your roof, again, NEVER get on the roof to check them out for yourself. This is dangerous and needs to be left to a trained roofer. They will be able to check for shingles that are loose, missing or buckling as well as look for problems that aren’t as easily visible.
Get your roof ready for the winter weather now with Robbins Roofing.
