Roofing is a messy job; it’s a simple fact of the project. The old shingles have to be removed from the roof deck along with the nails, felt and flashing. Small pieces of debris can fly off the roof and land in areas along the house. Unfortunately, these areas are usually fully landscaped. Luckily, you can protect your landscaping when it’s time for a new roof.
At Robbins Roofing, Inc., we want to protect your yard and your landscaping. We take great care to ensure that your landscaping will be protected throughout the process. While we can’t guarantee that your prized rosebushes will be pristine at the end of the project, we do promise that we will make every effort to prevent it.
Before we start the roofing process, we take the time to hang tarps from the roof all the way around the house. The tarp will be pulled out toward the grass, creating valuable protection for your landscaping, windows, doors and siding. The landscaping is protected with additional tarps since it sits away from the house slightly and runs the highest risk of being damaged.
The next step is to place a trailer in your driveway for waste removal. The largest pieces of old roofing are taken directly to the area above the trailer and dropped in. Small pieces that naturally break off during the process are directed harmlessly away from the house. We don’t just dump the old roofing onto your grass to be picked up later, as this will leave more debris than necessary. We want your property to be clean and fully intact when we are done with your roof replacement.
The final step involves a thorough cleaning and policing of the area around the tarp and property. Our crew will use special magnets and pick up as many stray nails as possible. Pieces of shingle will be cleaned away, leaving the yard clean and safe.
It’s impossible to promise that we will get every single stray nail and every stray bit of shingle from the yard. Roofing is a messy job, especially when the old roof has to be removed. What we do promise you is that we will take every precaution to protect your landscaping and keep your yard clean. We promise that we won’t start pulling a shingle until the tarps are in place. We promise that we will take the time to thoroughly check the yard for nails and other debris. We promise that we will provide you with a quality job on a new roof or roof repair.
